Simon has been practicing Shukokai karate with the SRKA since 2008 .

Simon began instructing in 2010 at Consett class after gaining his 1st Dan in late 2009. He now runs the SRKA classes at Esh on Monday’s, Deerness Valley on Wednesdays and Lanchester on Fridays.

Since becoming a member of the club Simon has participated in both kata and kumite sections at inter club and open competitions, and following successful completion of the SRKA instructor and refereeing course, helps officiate at SRKA inter club competitions.

His proudest moment since starting karate was becoming Team Captain for Durham Team at 2 consecutive War on the Floor tournaments and latterly taking over the role of Referee for the annual event.
